Overwhelm, along with stress, anxiety and other mental health conditions cause huge absenteeism and presenteeism every year, to the detriment of business owners themselves and their staff.
These issues can cause employees to take time off work, suffer with mental and physical illnesses, and often end up with an unproductive owner or workforce. Here are some tips to help you manage these for yourself and your workforce:
Outsource tasks
Let someone else do the mundane or frustrating tasks in your business to free up your time to do what you do best.
Be Aware
Be mindful of how you are feeling. How stressed you are. How your body is feeling. Know your limits and be prepared to take action when needed.
Find what Makes you Feel Good
Choose activities outside of your working time that allow you to switch off e.g., Walking, cooking, gardening, reading, or meditation.
Find Your Tribe
Surround yourself with people who champion you and your goals. Whether this is friends and family or support/business groups.
Find Balance
Balance out your life, physical and mental health with running your business. Don’t allow one to outweigh the other.
Cut Down on Alcohol Consumption
We all know that a clear mind is better for making good decisions so cut back on the booze. It isn’t good for us, makes us gain weight and disturbs our sleep.
Eat Well
Fuel yourself with good, nutritious whole foods where possible to give your mind and body what it needs to function optimally.
Sleep
Try and get 8 hours of sleep each night to be well rested and to be at your best. Avoid TV and computers just before bedtime. Try using essential oils such as Lavender, Ylang Ylang or Neroli in a massage or room fragrance. Eat foods such as milk, almonds, turkey, chamomile tea, kiwi, fatty fish, passionflower tea, white rice, bananas, or porridge. These can help release the chemicals needed to induce restful sleep to support your physical and mental health.
Change Your Perspective
Try looking at things from a different point of view instead of working on problems from the same direction – or even from someone else’s point of view.
Gratitude
Be thankful for everything and everyone in your life. Even if you don’t feel it is a positive experience, you will still learn from it. Be sure that wherever you put your energy and focus is where you will gain abundance.

All this extra information is not designed to add to your load or make you think that you are at fault for not doing things correctly. Rather to get you to look at your habits and processes and see what can be changed for the better. Pick one thing to change and just give one of the ideas a whirl and see what works for you and your business.
